‘Classic’ fictions: Past glories in a new light
By Brady Burroughs, Anna Wahlöö and Kajsa L. Körner
The idea of the content page departures from a common experience of being exposed to a theoretical canon, in seminaries, lectures etc, which is taken for granted and seldom questioned. Therefore, we wanted to construct a critical reading list, which not only suggested what this canon exists of but also suggest something else. The content page suggests a critical reading of existing so called ‘classics’. The purpose is not to create a new canon. Instead, we want to give credit to researchers and theorists who have developed and still are developing ideas of others, and encourage a critical reading of theories presented to us. It is also important for science and research to make the work of later theorist visible or otherwise ‘science’ might risk its own progress.
